Around the County - March 2018

Our theme for March has been "Dream Big" as we held 9 "Conversations with Kloeppel" town hall meetings around the County. In between these meetings, I spent a significant amount of time encouraging folks to register to vote and then go actually vote in the primary. I also canvassed door-to-door with other candidates, participated in a student voting event on the Quad, and attended the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Alumnae's event for candidates to learn more about concerns of the black community in the County from black leaders in justice, education, health care, business, and civic leadership while also maintaining a presence at the County Board meetings, including the Transition Committee which meets to discuss how the Board plans to work with the new County Executive.
Enjoyed chatting with voters at the Champaign town hall! Enjoying my turn at reading to the kids with Urbana Rotary this morning! I’m helping the next generation of county residents enjoy learning.
Had a great town hall in Mahomet supported by the Mahomet Democrats! On the Quad with other candidate teams, encouraging U of I students to vote before spring break... several were interested in the new Office of County Executive and learning about local politics in general, and I had fun talking with those who stopped to get info.
Carl Spoerer and I are fooling around while we get ready for the St. Joseph Town Hall meeting! I appreciated the invitation to attend a community forum this past weekend hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Champaign-Urbana Alumnae Chapter entitled
Prepping for another great town hall! Supporting the student walkout at Urbana High School- the student-led event was moving and powerful!
Had a good conversation with some Democrats starting to get involved with local politics this morning at my Town Hall in Rantoul! We need more like them! Meeting with the campaign team to plan for spring/summer canvassing and fundraising events.
